Guys, I’m doing a custom build on my 89 310-8, i need to bypass all of the safety switches. I don’t want to burn anything up so your help would greatly be appreciated. It is not advisable to remove safety switches, custom build or not the "SAFETY SWITCHES" are there for a reason; safety.I got the starter installed and the motor cranked fine, but wouldn’t start. In 1986 if the oil level is OK the relay is not activated. If you can remove the oil level switch wiring from the circuit it would give the same result. Oil level low the relay is activated and the power to the starter is interrupted. There are special instructions to remove the oil level switch from the engine without damage.
