I'm trying to kill Playful Darkness, but so far I'm not so much as making a dent in him. I've tried to dispelling his protections but that rarely works If you don't mind save scumming, he's not immune to baleful polymorph. He'll eventually roll a nat 1 against it and the fight becomes trivial (although it will take a long time).
